UP locomotive

On a sunny morning (9/22/05), I took these photos at 33rd and Lombard Street in Northeast Portland. I got a nice shot of a diesel freight passing by slowly.

Then I saw smoke in the distance and a large form barreling toward me. It was the Union Pacific Challenger at full steam. I stared in awe as the almost two-million pound behemoth thundered by - ten feet away from me.

My brain formed a single word: "Wow!"

If I have slandered any people or corporations in this blog, either expressly or inadvertently, they should buy me strong drinks (and an expensive meal) and try to prove to me that they're not the jerks I've portrayed them to be. If you're buying, I'm willing to listen.
